Printable 2010 Alaska Volleyball Schedule
FAIRBANKS, AK – Head coach Phil Shoemaker recently announced the Alaska Nanooks' 2010 volleyball schedule, which features the four-team Nanook Classic and 14 home matches. The Blue and Gold return five letterwinners from 2009, as five newcomers will make their debut in a Nanook uniform.
Alaska starts the 2010 slate with a pair of exhibition contests at home against the Fairbanks Flyers (Aug. 20) and Alaska volleyball alumni (Aug. 21). They will venture south to Anchorage to play back-to-back non-conference matches against Drury University on Aug. 27-28.
The Nanooks will return to Fairbanks to face CSU East Bay (Sept. 2) before hosting the Nanook Classic at the Patty Center. Charleston (Sept. 3), Bellarmine (Sept. 4) and CSU East Bay (Sept. 4) will join the Nanooks in tournament action.
The Blue and Gold will break into the 10
th season of Great Northwest Athletic Conference play with a three-match road swing; making stops at St. Martin's (Sept. 9), Western Oregon (Sept. 11) and Alaska Anchorage (Sept. 18).
The first conference home matches will pair Western Washington (Sept. 23) and Simon Fraser (Sept. 25) against the Nanooks at the Patty Center. Alaska will continue the GNAC slate with road matches at Montana State Billings (Sept. 30) and Seattle Pacific (Oct. 2) before returning to Fairbanks to host a three-match homestand against Northwest Nazarene (Oct. 7), Central Washington (Oct. 9) and Alaska Anchorage (Oct. 16).
Alaska will alternate weekends on the road and at home for the last month of the season, visiting Simon Fraser (Oct. 21), Western Washington (Oct. 23), Central Washington (Nov. 4) and Northwest Nazarene (Nov.6) and hosting Seattle Pacific (Oct. 28), Montana State Billings (Oct. 30), Western Oregon (Nov. 11) and Saint Martin's (Nov. 13) to close out the 2010 campaign.
