FAIRBANKS, AK - Senior forward Dion Knelsen lit the lamp twice and sophomore goalie Scott Greenham stopped all 16 shots he faced as the Alaska Nanooks shut out the No.12 Michigan State Spartans 2-0 Friday night at the Carlson Center.

Junior forward Dustin Sather assisted on both of Knelsen's goals, while sophomore defenseman Aaron Gens and rookie forward Andy Taranto tallied one apiece as the Blue and Gold improved to 11-9-7 overall and 8-9-6-4 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association: good for 34 points and a fourth place tie with Michigan.

The Spartans held on to second place in the league standings at 17-10-4 and 12-7-4-1 (CCHA).

The teams meet again Saturday evening at 6:05 p.m. The game is being broadcast live on GCI Cable statewide in Alaska and Nationally on Comcast in Michigan. It will also be shown late Saturday night via tape delay on Fairbanks' KFXF Fox 7.
