HOUGHTON, MI -
The Alaska Nanooks' men's and women's ski teams wrapped the NCAA Central Region Championships Sunday, finishing the two-day event with 277 points and second place overall. A repeat of the Central Collegiate Skiing Association results from the previous weekend, the Blue and Gold were topped by the Northern Michigan Wildcats (335) but beat out the Michigan Tech Huskies (261) for the second highest spot on the podium.

Sunday's team results were practically identical to Saturday's, as the Nanook women finished second on the day behind NMU and ahead of MTU, while the men were third behind the Wildcats and the Huskies.

Four women finished in the top-10 for the Nanooks, led by senior Aurelia Korthauer's fourth place performance and followed by Julia Pierson (8th), Anna Coulter (9th) and Theresia Schnurr (10th). Rounding out the women's team finishers were Elisabeth Angeles (16th) and Marit Rjabov (33rd).

Junior John Parry led the men's team, nabbing a fourth-place finish, and rookie Tyler Kornfield was 12th. Henri Soom, Ray Sabo and Alex Morris went 18-19-20, while Einar Often was 23rd and Erik Soderstrom was 35th.

Kornfield, who is the only Alaska Nanook skier thus far to earn a trip to the NCAA Skiing Championships next month in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, will likely be joined by Korthauer, Schnurr and Parry; however, they won't know for sure until the Individual qualifiers are named later this week.
